This unique necklace celebrates the connections between Ireland and Scotland by pairing marble from the Isle of Iona, a piece of sea glass found on north Antrim coast, a sterling silver "pebble" with a carved Triskele and Celtic knotwork.

Iona marble, with its green colour in white matrix, has been praised for centuries for its alleged healing properties. In medieval times, local fishermen wore it as a protective amulet. The Isle of Iona is known as a birthplace of Celtic Christianity, which also connects it to Ireland - for example, the famous Book of Kells, nowadays regarded as Ireland's national treasure, is believed to be written on Iona.

The Triskele (also known as Triskelion or, in the context of Celtic Christianity, the Trinity symbol) is one of the oldest known symbols that appeared early in prehistory and continues to be in use to this day. From triple spiral at the entrance of the megalithic tomb of Newgrange in Ireland to Triskele shaped three hares on medieval church windows across Europe, the symbolic significance of a Triskele blends together pagan and Christian heritage of Celtic countries.

The necklace comes on a 48 cm long chain that simply slides over handmade s-shaped clasps - all you need to do is gently push one side of the clasp with your finger. The length of the chain makes the pendant comfortably sit in the middle of the chest.
