WHAT IS THE GOJD COPYRIGHT REGISTRATION SERVICE JEWELCERT.UK?
The GoJD copyright registration service has been introduced in order to enable GoJD designer/maker members to protect their design work from being used unlawfully. Registering your work with us acts as a deterrent to others who may be tempted to use your work without permission and/or to pass it off as their own.
HOW DOES COPYRIGHT LAW PROTECT MY WORK?
Copyright prevents other people & companies from making a copy of it, adding it to a website, distributing it on any other media, performing it, showing or playing your work in public and changing it. It also provides the protection needed to keep your work safe from those who might try to copy, or otherwise appropriate, your work for their own use.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY WORK IS STOLEN?
Approach the individual or company and let them know that the work is registered with The GoJD Copyright Registration Service. If they refuse to stop using your work, you can threaten legal action to recover damages and a share of their profits using your submission to The GoJD as evidence of ownership and copyright infringement.
CAN I DO ANYTHING ELSE TO PROTECT MY WORK?
Yes. You can add the following text somewhere on your work: © 20xx Your Name/Company Name. All Rights Reserved. Registered with The Guild of Jewellery Designers. You can also display the GoJD QR code with your serial number so anybody can view your design certificate.
IS THERE A SIZE LIMIT ON THE WORK I CAN UPLOAD?
Yes. We have a 25MB limit on files that are uploaded to us. If your work is more than 25MB, try to compress your work and upload in an unzipped format. If your work is graphically based, JPGs can be compressed to reduce the size significantly.
HOW CAN I VIEW FILES I'VE SUBMITTED TO THE GoJD?
There are two ways to view registered work: Simply log into your Jewelcert.uk account and click on 'Vault' to view the list or enter the unique serial number for your registered files on the search page. You will be able to give a unique URL and serial number to interested third parties who can also view your work with your permission.
HOW DO I PAY?
Payment is made by buying credits using your credit or debit card through Stripe from your Jewelcert.uk account.
HOW WILL MY CLIENTS KNOW MY WORK IS PROTECTED BY YOU?
Banners are available to download in your account dashboard from the registration list. When you insert the special Copyright Protect banner script into your webpage, the image that displays links to your copyright registration page people to view.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
£1 plus VAT/file registration. This is a one off lifetime fee.
CAN I USE THE COPYRIGHT SYMBOL (©) ON MY ORIGINAL WORK?
It's entirely up to you. yes you can, but you do not have to. Not using this symbol does not affect your legal rights and your level of protection.
WHAT KIND OF COMPUTER FILES CAN I PROTECT?
You can protect any type of digital file apart from an .exe file. (jpg, PDF, png)
SHOULD I SUBMIT ONLY MY FINAL PIECE OF WORK OR ALL CONNECTED MATERIAL?
You should join and upload all material connected with the design and process you used to come up with it as one file (PDFs are a good format here); it's all very useful evidence.
HOW IS MY PRODUCT DATA STORED?
Your product data is stored on our site and a cryptographic hash (keccak256) of your data is recorded on the Polygon blockchain as an immutable timestamp. This means the actual data stays private, but the hash can be used to prove the data existed at a specific point in time and has not been altered.
HOW DO I REGISTER A NEW DESIGN?
The GoJD Copyright Registration tool is available to all and Gold membership is NOT required. Simply register on the Copyright Registration tool site and upload your designs on jewelcert.uk
