The Folklore Foundry Story

Once upon a time there was a girl that had a love for the natural world.  She felt at home in the dark woods at night and walked bare foot to feel the earths energy.  Her head was filled to the brim with fairy tales and the magical stories that her beloved Grandmother would share with her.

As the girl became a woman her love for this magical world never faded and fate would have it that she find a soul mate.  A strong bearded heathen to share this wonderful world with.  A tall giant of a man, with a creative streak and hands far too large for the delicate creations he would craft and bestow upon her.  Creations far too beautiful not to share!

Our Ethos

The whole team at The Folklore Foundry nurtures a close relationship with nature – believing that we are children of the earth rather than the masters of it and as such our roles are one of guardianship.  We are a true in-house business so we are able to ensure that all of our production processes are carried out in the most sustainable manner.  We make it our mission to deal with ethically responsible suppliers, that reflect our own ethics and source locally where possible, to reduce our carbon footprint and more importantly the effect of our business on the natural world.  All of our precious metals are 100% recycled and recyclable.

Introductions

The Folklore Foundry is truly a family affair.  Sean is the founder and creative heart of the team.  A gentle giant with a keen eye for detail, not only does he make all of our beautiful pieces, but he is also our in-house photographer.  A man of many talents, with experience in traditional jewellery making, he also has a keen mind which enables us to be at the forefront of new technologies ensuring we work sustainably.  Gemma is our organiser, helping to keep all of those creative endeavours on track.  With a background in sourcing and product development she ensures that we only deal with reputable suppliers for our materials, so that you can be confident that you are buying from an ethical and sustainable company.  And finally, Evan, our future apprentice and Tea Boy/Floor Sweeper Extraordinaire.
